The last thing I posted on my website was an announcement that I would be working up at Williamstown Theatre Festival for the summer, but so much has happened since then. I figured it was time for an update after a year!
After Williamstown, I was lucky enough to immediately start working on the SETA National Tour of Jersey Boys as a rehearsal and tech production assistant. A few weeks later, I was asked to sub as an Assistant Stage Manager on the tour as well as work as a production assistant on the Off-Broadway company of Jersey Boys at New World Stages. During these periods, I helped assist the stage management team with adapting to a smaller scaled show, the changes that went along with that, and figuring out how to run the show in a much smaller theatre.
Fast Forward to November, I began work as a production assistant on a new Terrence McNally play called Fire and Air at Classic Stage Company, directed by John Doyle. I was in charge of maintaining the script and the rehearsal room.
In February and March, I was an Assistant Stage Manager on Piramo e Tisbe for Little Opera Theatre of New York. This was the first opera I had ever worked on as well as saw. I am thrilled to have been introduced to a new form of performance.
Currently, I am working on a lab of Unmasked, a revue of the work of Andrew Lloyd Webber, under the direction of John Doyle. I have not worked on many workshops of this type yet, and am excited to witness the future of this piece.
Last but not least, at the end of this week I will be leaving to go on tour with Jersey Boys as replacement assistant stage manager thru the end of June. I will also be getting my union card! I am looking forward to taking a break from NY to experience life on the road with a group of people I already know and adore. I also hope to learn more about myself as a stage manager as I adapt to the different theaters and crew every week.
That’s all for now!
