Love is in the Air

Director and Student Producer

Live Webcast, Spring 2017

Penn State – Collaboration between the College of Communications and the School of Theatre

For my last production at Penn State, I was able to combine my two majors–Stage Management and Telecommunications– in a collaboration between the School of Theatre and College of Communications. As a part of my Advanced TV Production class, we were to produce a live webcast as well as a magazine show for Love is in the Air, an original Shakespeare compilation focusing on the theme of love. This show took place outside in the Arboretum on Penn State’s campus so we had to deal with unpredictable weather. Another challenged we faced was the placement of trees. The “stage” was inside a square with a perimeter of tall, thin trees which made it difficult to get certain shots and angles. We had to be creative when placing cameras as well as manually focusing on actors and not trees in the foreground.

– Student Producer:
     – Acted as the right hand woman to my teacher
     – Attended planning meetings
     – Acted as a liaison between the two schools
     – Produced a studio interview with the director of the theatre production that would be part of a larger
magazine show. The magazine show was played during intermission and after the show

– Director:
     – Led the production team during rehearsal and show days
     – Edited the entire magazine show that was played during the performance
     – Assisted with setup and tear down
     – Determined camera shots and produced shot lists while still giving the camera operators creative
     – Called the show and was quickly adaptable to varied blocking

Penn State Not the Same

Production Assistant

Commercial, Fall 2016

Decoded Agency/All Ages Productions

I was a production assistant on a new Penn State recruitment commercial that will be broadcasted nationally. It was a 3 day shoot where I assisted in whichever department needed hands at the time (ex. art dept/construction, directing, camera, etc.).

Penn State is unlike any other university, so we made an ad unlike any other university.
